I have a pretty interesting job. As a bi-product of actually furnishing/installing operable walls, I learn a lot about many different industries. I see lots of different job sites, meet lots of different people and work on buildings for lots of different companies. Another bi-product of my interesting job is how dangerous being on a construction site can actually be. Of course, we all take precautions by attending safety meetings, wearing the proper protective gear like hard hats safety glasses & boots, but we seldom get the chance to show our families where we actually work each day. Well, after working in the industry for more than a decade, I finally got that opportunity. The Ralph Carr Judicial building located in Denver, Colorado is currently under construction and the General Contractor, Mortenson Construction, offered a family day onsite last weekend (we are contracted to provide multiple paired-panel and omni-directional panel operable partitions).I understand that it took a few days to clean the site to make it ready for visitors- it was very presentable and safe for me & my family to walk through. We toured the basement, 1st, 4th & 11th floors, watched a slide show of the conceptual finishes, rode the exterior skip, ate some breakfast & the kids signed a safety poster urging me to work safely. I was very proud to show my family where I work and what I do. After all it’s for them that I, and all my industry counterparts, do our jobs. Without question, a big shout-out to the Mortenson team who made that day a reality. Thank you.
