The Westview Middle School project is now underway.  I’ve been looking forward to this job for some time now.  I run approximately 50-70 jobs simultaneously at any given time, many of them are similar in scope, which is what makes the Westview job exciting- challenging and different.  The scope:

  • Demo of approximately 175 panels that were originally manufactured by a competitor- gotta love that!
  • Re-using the existing track and retrofitting our panels to work which saves the school ton of money.
  • Coordinating the panel production so that when unloaded from the truck, all panels from each run come out together and in some type of manageable sequence (props to Mary Graves at Hufcor- thanks for working with me!).

This may not sound like that big of deal, but messing up an order like this with lots of options (pass-doors, exit signs, colors, marker boards, chalk boards, room numbers, sizes, etc) is very easy.   To make it more interesting; any mess-up on this size of job, could have HUGE ramifications.  Needless to say, I’m on my toes.

The demolition will be complete tomorrow and the new panels will arrive on Monday and installation will begin immediately.

The General Contractor, Golden Triangle Construction has been great to work with.  A good GC makes working more enjoyable- thanks GTC!

Special shout out to: Todd, Jamison, Mike and Ross at GTC !!!

WOW! Sounds like a lot of coordination required. What happens if the new panels don't fit when they arrive? YIKES!

This isn't my first rodeo, man. All joking aside, if they don't fit, this will likely be my last blog entry. They'll fit! -G
